Pre-Assignment: Part 1 – True or False
- A negative self-image can limit our accomplishments, defining what we can or cannot do.
Answer…
True. How can a negative self-image hurt our chance to be successful in sales? We self-censor (I can’t ask them, I can’t call now) and most of the time this is just a way to avoid that fear of rejection.
- In today’s fast-paced business climate, salespeople cannot develop a systematic prospecting plan.
Answer…
False. Today it is more important than ever that we plan. We need to make our time count like never before.
- It is not ethical to use friends and acquaintances to build your prospect database.
Answer…
False. Are you selling them bad products or services? Of course not, so it is perfectly ethical. In fact, if we take the perspective that we aren’t selling, we are solving problems, then we really SHOULD give our friends and acquaintances a chance to benefit from what we have to offer. We MUST believe in the products and services we are selling.
- Using scripts makes your prospecting process seem canned and should be avoided at all costs.
Answer…
False. When you make an important phone call, do you jot down notes to yourself before you dial the number? Of course you do! It helps us stay on track. You don’t have to read off of a notepad; you just need a reminder of what you want to say.
- Once you become really successful as a salesperson, you can quit prospecting.
